A seemingly luxurious seaside house becomes a place of danger when the coven drinks poisoned wine. Without access to their usual magical powers, they must combine their knowledge, ingenuity and trust to create an antidote before time runs out.
The poison also forces each witch to confront a deeply personal vision. Through Jen, Alice, Lilia and Agatha, we explore trauma, coercion, grief and the painful memories that continue to shape us. What happens when the wounds we try to bury are brought suddenly to the surface?
We reflect on the episode’s understanding of community. A coven is meant to share both blessings and burdens, yet fear and self-preservation repeatedly threaten to pull this fragile group apart. Their survival depends upon recognising that everyone brings something valuable to the circle.
Sharon Davis’s fate raises the most confronting questions of all. She is recruited reluctantly, repeatedly called by the wrong name and treated as though she is replaceable. Her death challenges us to consider what happens when someone is welcomed into a community without being truly seen, heard or protected.
Drawing upon faith, fiction and lived experience, we ask what genuine solidarity requires of us. Is belonging simply about being included in the room—or does it mean ensuring that nobody is forgotten when the trial begins?
